We currently have an opportunity for a Volunteer Peer Support Worker

The candidate must be available on a Friday from 10.30-2.30 to volunteer at our women arts and crafts group.  The role includes making refreshments, welcoming group members, and taking part in activities.

The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of a team, be a good listener and empathic.  We are looking for someone who shares our values and wants to support vulnerable women and children.

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and must provide two references.  Because of the nature of the role the address is confidential.  This role is exempt under the Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1. As such we can only consider applications from women.

Job Description / role

  • To work directly with women and children who have suffered domestic abuse
  • To complete all mandatory training
  • To provide support to PWA staff
  • Work within Safeguarding regulations including reporting any concerns immediately and adhere to the PWA Safeguarding Policy
  • To be available to volunteer for additional hours if required.
  • To adhere to GDPR regulations
  • To work within all PWA policies
  • To attend 4 weekly supervision sessions with you supervisor / mentor
  • To work in line with PWA’s mission and values
