The Respectful Relationships Programme aims are as follows:

  • To promote respect in all relationships
  • To reduce social tolerance of domestic violence, so that it is no longer excused, minimised or accepted
  • To challenge attitudes that may allow domestic violence and abuse to be perpetrated in the future
  • To enable schools to become an access point to services for children who have been affected by domestic violence
  • To support schools in meeting the needs of children who have been affected by domestic violence

By delivering the programme we assist Primary schools in meeting their objectives of the PSHE curriculum for Key Stage 2:

  • Developing good relationships and respecting the difference between people
  • Preparing to play an active role as citizens
  • Developing a healthy and safer lifestyle
  • Developing confidence and responsibility

The programme also meets the SEAL (social and emotional aspects of learning)

  • Self awareness
  • Managing feelings
  • Motivation
  • Empathy
  • Social skills

We work in partnership with individual schools and encourage them to take part in the programme to enable them to support children who have experienced domestic abuse.
